At 2|42, baptism is described as the way a person says "yes" to Jesus publicly for the very first time
Brighton, United States - October 29, 2026 / 2/42 Community Church /
BRIGHTON, Mich. - October 26, 2026 - 2|42 Community Church is inviting people across Michigan who have decided to follow Jesus to take their next step of faith through baptism. The church offers baptism by immersion at its campuses in Ann Arbor, Brighton, Lansing, Livonia, Monroe, Saginaw and Taylor, and anyone interested can sign up online at 242community.com/baptism.
At 2|42, baptism is described as the way a person says "yes" to Jesus publicly for the very first time. Drawing on Romans 6:1-11, the church teaches that going under the water represents identifying with Jesus' death and leaving sin behind, while coming up out of the water represents His resurrection and new life in Christ. Baptism is a personal commitment to let Jesus be the Savior and Lord of one's life.
Baptized as a Baby?
Many people who grew up in church were baptized as infants and wonder whether baptism is still a step for them. 2|42 believes Scripture teaches that baptism is a choice a believer makes once they are old enough to understand the decision, pointing to Acts 2:41, which describes those who accepted the message being baptized. For someone baptized as a baby who is now ready to make that commitment personally, the church encourages baptism as a way to fulfill the commitment their parents made on their behalf.
How to Get Baptized
Anyone ready to take this step can complete the Get Baptized form at 242community.com/baptism. A member of the 2|42 team will follow up with next steps for their campus. Campus locations and weekend service times are available at 242community.com/locations.
