CHARLOTTE, N.C., Nov. 3, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- RAM Pavement donated the labor and equipment to pave a new driveway for vehicles and accessible pathways at YMCA Camp Thunderbird in Lake Wylie, SC — supporting a local foundation that runs camps for children with disabilities. Campers in wheelchairs needed a safer, more-accessible way to travel between their cabins and the camp's activity areas. King Asphalt, a local asphalt producer, donated the asphalt for the project.

Camp Thunderbird had already made its cabins ADA accessible. The challenge came once campers left the cabin ramps, where the ground transitioned to stone surfaces. With its September camp session approaching, the foundation reached out to RAM Pavement for help.

RAM Pavement paved a 600-foot by 10-foot asphalt driveway to the camp. The RAM production crew also paved small asphalt pathways, connecting all of the ADA cabins to the camp's activity centers so children with special needs could participate in the full-camp experience.
